The rails that were used in the Ottoman architecture as one of the traditional elements especially as window and handrail elements, continued to exist with similar characteristics starting from the Seljuk to the Tanzimat (Reform) era. The rails are made by intertwining wrought iron rods and casting cube-shaped pieces on the intersection parts.
The visual characteristics of this style which incorporates all design arts such as architecture, interior design, industrial design and graphic are flower motifs, organic patterns and flowing rounded lines.
Art Nouveau has formed a synthesis by combining pure nature of the new with experience of the disappearing old. Artists who came after Art Nouveau adopted the way it deals with materials, methods and values, rather than style of this movement.
